Like its food namesake, Salsa dance is spicy and tasty if done correctly. It’s one of the Latin dances that is usually accompanied by the sequins, short skirts for the ladies and an unbuttoned shirt for the gentleman (you don’t have to do this, it’s more for the professionals). Apart from teaching you timing, movement and a way to engage socially it’s also a great way to get fit. Salsa Classes London are one of the best and you should try to enroll.

Where does the dance come from? It’s actually quite a modern dance. It’s origins come from the 1960’s and New York City. This cosmopolitan place is full of different cultures and Salsa grows out of several different Latin disciplines. The Cuban and Puerto Rican populace are mainly responsible. They were looking for a distinct style of dance that expressed themselves and their roots. They took Mambo and Rumba and turned them into the fast paced dance we have today. This style didn’t just remain in the United States. It soon became a global dance style gaining acceptance even out in the lands of it’s ultimate parents Central and South America.

There are lots of styles and adaptations ranging from the Original New York style, Los Angeles and Cuban forms. It’s surprisingly easy to pick up and can be a lot of fun. It’s always with a partner and has a reputation for being a very sexy dance to do. A good dating skill!
